The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federal grant program, administered by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), that provides financial assistance to low-income individuals and families to cover energy bills, as well as weatherization and minor home repairs. This critical program protects households that might otherwise be forced to choose between heating their homes and buying groceries or seeking healthcare.
