APGA Communications & Marketing Award


The Communications & Marketing Award is an annual award to recognize APGA public natural gas systems who have worked hard over the past year to communicate to their customers and market natural gas in their communities.

All APGA members are encouraged to submit their innovative and successful communications initiatives, marketing programs, branding initiatives or customer service campaigns for consideration and recognition.

2023 APGA Communications & Marketing Award Winners 

  • 1st Place: York County Natural Gas Authority, Rock Hill, SC for Safe Digging Month Campaign & Contest 
  • 2nd Place: York County Natural Gas Authority, Rock Hill, SC for Natural Gas Home Realtor Ad 
  • 3rd Place: Knoxville Utilities Board, TN for KUB Natural Gas Growth 

Prior to 2023, this award was called the Marketing & Sales Award.

  • 2016 Residential Sales/Promotion (large systems):Municipal Gas Authority of Georgia

2015 APGA Marketing & Sales Award Winners

  • 2015 CNG Winner: Memphis Light Gas and Water - Winner had a program aimed at educating the public about the benefits of CNG or working in partnership with fleet owners to convert to NGVs
  • 2015 Advertising Winner: Okaloosa Gas District - Winner had a program that utilizes multimedia advertisements to promote residential or commercial natural gas benefits or institutional branding
  • 2015 System Growth Winner: City of Tallahassee -  had a program focused on developing system growth through retention, increasing load, building and maintaining burner tips or increasing appliance sales.
  • 2015 Consumer Education Winner: Charlottesville Gas - Winner had a program that educates consumers on natural gas benefits, availability, safety, public awareness, or events for public relations
  • 2015 Digital Marketing Winner: City of Tallahassee - Winner had a program that utilizes digital media (e.g., social media, website, Facebook, mobile apps, Twitter, YouTube) to promote natural gas

2014 APGA Marketing & Sales Award Winners

2013 APGA Marketing & Sales Award Winners

  • 2013 Advertising Winner:   Sevier County Utility District for their Post Cards & Online Survey used to gauge interest and/or return on investment for main line extensions
  • 2013 CNG/NGV Winner:  Pensacola Energy, Pensacola, FL for their CNG program that educated the public on the benefits of CNG while branding the City of Pensacola as a Green City
  • 2013 Consumer Education Winner:  City of Palo Alto Utilities for their Gas Safety Outreach Campaign that raised community awareness of critical gas safety issues.
  • 2013 Digital Marketing Winner:  Okaloosa Gas District, Valparaiso, FL for their “It Is All About Your Lifestyle” social media campaign that effectively communicates the benefits of natural gas as a preferred energy source in their service territory
  • 2013 System Growth Winner: York County Natural Gas Authority, Rock Hill, SC for their program, “Go Tankless,” which aimed to increase sales of tankless water heaters by 50 percent and to educate customers on tankless technologies and the benefits of conversions.
