APGA staff have been in communication with personnel from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) since the DOE's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) announced their plans to publish the final Process Rule, as well as issue a new, related Supplemental Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (SNOPR) on clarifying the procedures that evaluate the economic justification of new or amended energy conservation standards. On February 13, APGA learned both these will publish in the Federal Register on February 14. They can be viewed on the Federal Register Public Inspection site at this time. Click here for the Final Process Rule and here for the SNOPR.

The Process Rule updates and streamlines aspects of the current rulemaking process under the Appliance and Equipment Standards Program that is governed by DOE's EERE. Most of APGA’s feedback given throughout the procedural process was accompanied in this final rule. Regarding the SNOPR, APGA staff is taking a closer look and will follow up with members on possible next steps. For more information, review the DOE EERE announcement.
