On August 23, APGA joined several other trade associations in submitting comments responding to the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Request for Information (RFI) regarding the resilience of oil and natural gas infrastructure.  The coalition joining in on the input was very representative, covering all aspects of the oil and natural gas industry, including producers, refiners, suppliers, distributors, pipeline operators and marine transporters, as well as service and supply companies.

The comments highlighted the deep commitment to safe, secure, and environmentally responsible operations that reduce potential risk to the public, employees, and contractors.  Great detail was provided on resilience being a valuable element to natural gas infrastructure, one that other energy delivery systems don’t have.  The associations pointed out, too, resiliency’s contribution to safety. For decades, the natural gas industry, including APGA members, has built a vast and reliable infrastructure that has withstood many disasters, like hurricanes. At the same time, a culture exists where every employee feels a responsibility for the safety of his or her co-workers, their customers, and communities.

This feedback to the Department will inform them of past efforts with all stakeholders, including DOE. As well, highlight our continued commitment to ensure policies and programs protect workers and communities, promotes safe practices, and improve capability to deliver critical products around the nation to meet consumer demand.
