The APGA Research Foundation (RF) recently joined the Gas Technology Institute (GTI) North American Gas Heat Pump Water Heater Partnership (GHP-WHP). The GHP-WHP is sending a clear message about the natural gas distribution industry’s commitment to the commercialization and launch of residential and commercial GHP water heater technologies. The GTI GHP-WHP team consists of gas utilities across North America working in partnership with Rinnai to test product readiness in various climates and housing types with the expectation of bringing a product to market soon. Gas Heat Pump technology is proving to be a very efficient and effective use of natural gas energy and the Research Foundation is excited to work with GTI and APGA members on these projects. This Partnership is working in concert with the North American Gas Heat Pump Collaborative.

The RF invests in developing new and improved products, processes, practices, and knowledge that increase the operational safety of natural gas infrastructure and the utilization of safe natural gas technologies. RF funded projects reach across the innovation cycle from idea generation to product development to commercialization.
