APGA Updates Data in Benchmarking

By Erin Kurilla posted 04-30-2020 12:10 PM

The APGA Benchmarking Tool, currently available to all APGA member systems, has been updated to include data from the 2019 Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration’s (PHMSA) Distribution Annual Report. The 2019 data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) will be available later this year. Three new benchmarks have been added this year:

1. The number of shutoff valves installed this year;
2. Percent of services that had a shutoff valve installed this year; and,
3. Percent of services with a shutoff valve.

The APGA Benchmarking Tool enables member systems to compare their PHMSA Annual Report and EIA Form 176 Data against all other natural gas distribution systems. Users of the tool can define their peer group in any number of ways. For example, peer groups can be defined by state(s), system types, customer counts and mileage. APGA encourages its members to explore the tool and welcomes any suggested improvements or additions.
