On May 23, Dave Schryver, APGA’s Executive Vice President, and Jason Stanek, Chairman of the Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC), visited Easton Utilities for a briefing and tour. Easton Utilities was established in 1914 and provides a range of services to their community ranging from natural gas and electricity to water, wastewater, cable television and internet. APGA has worked closely with Chairman Stanek over the last several years and helped coordinate the visit. Jason Stanek was appointed Chairman of the Maryland Public Service Commission by Governor Larry Hogan for a five-year term beginning on July 1, 2018. Prior to joining the Maryland PSC, Jason served as Senior Counsel to the Energy Subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Energy and Commerce. Chairman Stanek also held senior positions at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), advising both a FERC Chairman and Commissioner during his 16-year tenure.

The day began with Hugh Grunden, President & CEO of Easton Utilities, presenting an overview of the utility and its many activities. Hugh discussed the core services that the utility provides to its residents and also discussed the external community outreach and engagement the utility has undertaken. Chairman Stanek and Dave then enjoyed a tour of the facility, including the system’s landfill gas facility.
