At its July 30 meeting in Stowe, Vt., the American Public Gas Association (APGA) Board of Directors unanimously approved the recommendation of the APGA CEO Search Committee to appoint Dave Schryver, APGA’s current Executive Vice President, as the association’s next President & CEO. Dave will replace Bert Kalisch, who will leave APGA at the end of 2019 after serving as President & CEO for almost 16 years.

Dave became APGA’s Executive Vice President in 2006. He joined APGA as Vice President for Congressional Affairs in February 2004. Prior to joining APGA, Dave worked for the American Public Power Association as a Senior Government Relations Representative. Dave also served as Manager of the Government Affairs Department for Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU), a four-service municipally-owned utility. Prior to joining CSU, he worked on Capitol Hill for seven years for Senator John Breaux from Louisiana. In 2008, Dave earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). In 2009 he completed the four-year Institute of Organization Management (IOM), a nonprofit leadership training program. Dave holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Owen Reeves, the Chairman of APGA’s Board of Directors and Gas System Director for Henderson, KY Municipal Gas stated that, “While Bert Kalisch’s retirement at the end of this year certainly leaves some big shoes to fill, we are extremely pleased and confident in our selection of Dave to serve as APGA President & CEO, beginning January 1, 2020. Dave has been on the APGA management team doing an outstanding job managing the many issues we face as well as directing staff efforts. We are excited and look forward to Dave’s leadership in helping APGA, and the natural gas industry as a whole, meet the many challenges that lay ahead.”
