The 2025 APGA Legislative Summit will take place this January 29 – 30 in Washington, D.C., in conjunction with the Winter Board and Committee Meetings. APGA members in attendance will receive energy policy updates from guest speakers and meet with their congressional offices & staff on important legislative issues.
The results of the recent elections mean there will be significant turnover in Congress and the Administration. These transitions will be occurring during the first few months of the year, which makes it important that congressional representatives and their staff hear directly from their constituents. Many members of the APGA Public Gas Policy Council, elected and appointed officials from public natural gas communities, also attend and participate in meetings on the Hill.
The Senate will be in session during APGA's Legislative Summit but, unfortunately, the House of Representatives will be in recess. Schedules for both chambers were released by leadership months after APGA announced the dates of the Summit. Regardless, APGA expects to have fruitful conversations with the Senators & their offices, as well as with the staff of many Representatives' offices who will still be working and holding meetings. It is also not unusual for a member of Congress to plan to stay in DC during recess. The opportunity for APGA members to be some of the first advocates to meet with new or returning Congressmembers and their staff in the new year is exciting.
