APGA members meet in Washington, D.C., every year for the APGA Member Meetings on the Hill to meet with lawmakers on Capitol Hill
, and the 2020 edition will take place May 3-6 at the The Alexandrian by Marriott in Alexandria, Virginia. The event is held in coordination with the Spring Board and Committee Meetings.
In addition to receiving updates on key natural gas issues, another critical component of this event is APGA members meeting with their congressional delegations. Having congressional representatives hear directly from their constituents on key issues of interest to public natural gas systems has greatly helped APGA’s advocacy efforts. In previous years, many members of the APGA Public Gas Policy Council attend and participate in meetings on the Hill. The Public Gas Policy Council is made up of elected and appointed officials from public natural gas communities.
In past years, APGA members met with approximately 60 congressional offices to communicate their views on important legislative issues. The event normally concludes with a reception in a U.S. Senate hearing room, which is widely attended by congressional staff and industry representatives.
