06-19-2019 09:30 AM

APGA has submitted testimony (attached) for a House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing, entitled “Legislative Solutions to Make Our Nation’s Pipelines Safer”, that will be held today 1t 10:30am.  A focus of the hearing, and our testimony, will be the Energy and Commerce draft pipeline safety legislation, entitled The Safer Pipelines Act of 2019, that was sent out in an email last Thursday.  The key points within APGA’s testimony include: Pipeline Safety Management Systems (SMS) should not be regulated; new regulations on overpressure protection and management of change (MOC) should be scalable and flexible; and an evaluation of the efficacy of mandating data sharing for pipeline safety.  APGA staff will send out a summary of the hearing after its conclusion.
