Richard (Rich) H. Worsinger, PE
Rich is the Director of Wilson Energy for the City of Wilson, North Carolina where he is responsible for the City’s municipally-owned electric and natural gas utilities. Wilson Energy serves approximately 35,000 electric and 15,000 natural gas customers. Rich has been with the City of Wilson since July 2019 and has over 35 years of experience in the utility industry.
Rich was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has a Bachelor of Science in Electric Engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia, and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina. Before coming to Wilson, Rich served as the Director of Energy Resources for the City of Rocky Mount, NC for 18 years where he was responsible for their electric and natural gas utilities serving approximately 27,000 electric and 17,000 natural gas customers.
Prior to moving to North Carolina, Rich spent most of his professional career employed by Public Service Electric and Gas Company in New Jersey. Public Service Electric and Gas is an investor-owned electric and gas utility serving over 2 million customers in New Jersey. During this time, Rich held various engineering and management positions in both the electric and gas departments.
Rich is a Past Chairman and a member of the American Public Gas Association’s Board of Directors, is on the Board of Directors of the Carolinas Public Gas Association and is an Alternate Commissioner for the North Carolina Eastern Municipal Power Agency’s Board of Commissioners. He serves as an industry representative on the US Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration's Gas Pipeline Advisory Committee. He is also a past president of the North Carolina Association of Municipal Electric Systems.
Rich has been married to his wife Nancy for over 30 years and they have a son Chris and daughter Libby.
