Richard (Rich) Worsinger
Rich is the Energy Resources Director for the City of Rocky Mount, North Carolina where he is responsible for the City’s municipally-owned electric and natural gas utilities. Rocky Mount has approximately 27,000 electric and 17,000 natural gas customers. Rich has been with the City since January 2001.
Rich was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, has a Bachelor of Science in Electric Engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia, and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in NC. Before coming to Rocky Mount, Rich spent most of his professional career employed by Public Service Electric and Gas Company in New Jersey. Public Service Electric and Gas is an investor-owned electric and gas utility serving over 2 million customers in New Jersey. During this time, Rich held various engineering and management positions in both the electric and gas departments.
Rich serves on the boards of the American Public Gas Association, Carolinas Public Gas Association, North Carolina Eastern Municipal Power Agency and the US DOT Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration's Technical Pipeline Safety Standards Committee. He also served on the board of APGA's Security & Integrity Foundation, and is a past president of the North Carolina Association of Municipal Electric Systems.
Rich has been married to his wife Nancy for over 30 years and they have a son Chris and daughter Libby.
