APGA Encourages Members to Participate in ICC Voting

Recently, APGA has been communicating the ongoing International Code Council (ICC) voting process to members. APGA held a webinar on this topic that was recorded and also posted online for members to view. For those unable to see the webinar, it is important to know that APGA members have the unique opportunity to be an integral part of the voting process, a role that employees of investor-owned utilities do not have. As mentioned, the Online Governmental Consensus Vote (OGCV) process is now open through December 6. If you or someone within your company is a validated voter, please reach out to APGA to obtain a list of voting recommendations and participate. These suggested voting positions were developed with support from the American Gas Association (AGA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). As well, if you know local building officials or other city employees, who are ICC members and validated voters, feel free to share these recommendations for their consideration. Vote totals tabulated at the Las Vegas hearing for the IECC were very small, suggesting that the OGCV results are likely to determine the outcomes.

ICC provides support for voting through its cdpACCESS website. APGA staff is happy to help ensure individuals that are eligible know how to act. APGA will report the OGCV voting results when they become available.

A recording of the webinar is available at www.apga.org/webinars.
