Spring Regulatory Agenda for DOE

Earlier this week, the Trump Administration issued their Unified Agenda of Regulatory and Deregulatory Actions, identifying the rulemakings aiming to be issued in the near and long term. This is released by the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), which is a part of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

Provided with the announcement of the regulatory agenda, the Administration stated that it is still committed to reducing unnecessary burdens on the American people through amending and eliminating regulations that are ineffective, duplicative, and obsolete. In particular, the regulatory agenda for the Department of Energy (DOE) has potential to impact APGA members. The agency hopes to soon publish their preliminary determination regarding energy savings for the 2018 version of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). As well, the list includes the petition APGA submitted on condensing standards. This and almost all of the other regulatory actions are in the pre-rule stage, meaning DOE will be submitting a request for information to stakeholders. Once that input is received, they will begin working a proposed rule.

Most of the items given in the regulatory agenda are targeting to be worked and progressed to the next stage in 2019, but there is no requirement that this gets done. The dates for these regulatory actions could slip to 2020. To see all the information on the agenda, click here.
