APGA staff was in attendance at the ninth annual Higher Logic Super Forum this past November 6-8 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md. Higher Logic is the hosting and community platform for a number of association websites including APGA.org. This annual meeting gathers web, membership, and technology professionals to gain insights and share ideas.

Keynote speakers included author and TEDx speaker Jackie Huba, a customer loyalty expert who spoke about the value of word-of-mouth marketing and what she called “customer evangelism,” where the most loyal customers of a business become an unwitting volunteer sales force. Another keynote speaker was writer, researcher, and generational expert Kim Lear of Inlay Insights, who spoke about generational differences, how they affect the workplace, and the different ways to approach marketing to baby boomers, Generation X, Millennials, and Generation Z.

Track sessions included topics such as: site design tips and tricks; driving and improving community engagement; how to deploy marketing automation tools; how to employ content management systems more efficiently; and forthcoming updates to the admin user interface.

Key takeaways that will likely affect APGA’s digital experience included new site design tips and tricks, and ideas to help design a more user-friendly community experience. Watch for these changes in the coming weeks and months.
