Last week in Chattanooga, Tenn., APGA hosted their third consecutive annual Operations Conference. Over 235 attendees were joined by 30 exhibitors. Pat Riley, who is an APGA Board Member, APGA Operations & Safety Committee Chair and General Manager of Gibson County Utility District, facilitated an action-packed program with 30 different presenters that shared their insights, lessons learned, and best practices for all things related to operations and pipeline safety.

Keynote speakers included Alan Mayberry, Associate Administrator of Pipeline Safety at the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), and Jason Montoya, the Bureau Chief of the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission and immediate past chairman of the National Association of Pipeline Safety Regulators. Alan shared PHMSA’s priorities and goals as the administration moves into 2019 and begins discussion about congressional reauthorization of pipeline safety programs. Alan concluded his presentation by outlining the role PHMSA believes Pipeline Safety Management Systems will play on improving safety for the nation’s pipeline infrastructure.

Other highlights included a panel on Public Awareness and 10 different Quick Hit presentations where exhibitors shared their new and innovative products that are assisting operators in meeting their daily challenges.
