On December 10, APGA held a webinar for its members to provide an overview of APGA’s legislative and regulatory activities in 2019. The webinar was presented by Dave Schryver, APGA’s Executive Vice President, and Stuart Saulters and Doug MacGillivray, Directors of Government Affairs. During the webinar they discussed APGA advocacy efforts on a number of issues including pipeline safety legislation, energy legislation as well as a number of Department of Energy (DOE) rulemakings.

During the webinar, staff discussed efforts to enact legislation to provide the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) with the authority to order refunds, in the same manner that they have under the Federal Power Act, when it has been proven that a pipeline has over-collected. They also discussed congressional efforts to move energy legislation and communicated some of the priorities that APGA has focused on including repeal of Section 433 of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, which bans the use of fossil fuel in new and renovated federal buildings beginning in 2030. They provided an overview of APGA’s interactions with DOE on a number of issues, including the Process Rule, which sets the rules that DOE must follow when considering new appliance efficiency standards. Lastly, they gave an outlook on congressional activity for the remainder of this year and int0 2020.

APGA holds government relations webinars twice a year. A mid-year webinar was held in June. A recording of the webinar is available on the APGA website at www.apga.org/webinars.
