On October 16, Dave Schryver, APGA’s Executive Vice President and incoming President and CEO, presented the 2019 APGA Public Gas System Achievement Award to the Tallahassee Public Gas System at their City Commission Meeting. The Public Gas System Achievement Award is presented annually at the APGA Annual Conference to an APGA public gas system member that has made substantial contributions to the community, other utilities and the goals of APGA. Another criteria is that the system must have demonstrated a willingness to exchange ideas and technology with others to enhance the safety and knowledge within the gas industry.

Dave presented the award to Tallahassee Mayor John Dailey and employees of the Tallahassee Gas System. During his presentation, Dave expressed APGA’s appreciation for Tallahassee’s support and leadership in APGA, including Stephen Mayfield who has been chair and vice-chair of APGA Committees and currently serves on the Board. Dave also discussed Tallahassee receiving an APGA System Operational Achievement Recognition (SOAR) award. The SOAR program recognizes excellence in public natural gas system operations. Dave stated that the City of Tallahassee Gas Department was selected as a Gold recipient. Since the program launched in 2014, there have only been six APGA member systems to be recognized as Gold winners.
