On May 7, members of the APGA Board of Directors and the Regulatory Subcommittee met with members of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in Washington, D.C. The APGA representatives that participated in the meeting included: Sam Davis, APGA First Vice Chair and General Manger & Chief Executive Officer of Lake Apopka Natural Gas District; Donnie Sharp, Chair of the APGA Regulatory Subcommittee and Senior Natural Gas Supply Coordinator for Huntsville Utilities; John Olshefski, Senior Vice President, Customer Care for Huntsville Utilities; Rich Worsinger, Director of Energy Resources for the City of Rocky Mount; John Gregg, APGA’s General Counsel; and Dave Schryver, APGA’s Executive Vice President. The issues that were raised in the meeting included the liquidity of natural gas price indices, infrastructure, and pipeline rates.

APGA leadership meets with the FERC Commissioners twice a year to communicate information and positions on federal regulatory matters of concern to public natural gas systems. These meetings play a critical role in APGA’s advocacy efforts as they have allowed APGA to develop and maintain a relationship with the commissioners. During the meeting with Commissioner LaFleur, who will be leaving FERC this year, Sam Davis presented Commissioner LaFleur with an APGA Appreciation Award in recognition of her service on behalf of America’s natural gas consumers.
