Partial Federal Government Shutdown Continues

By Dave Schryver posted 01-17-2019 11:00 AM

The partial federal government shutdown is now in its 27th day and is the longest shutdown in our nation’s history. The federal departments impacted by the shutdown include the Departments of: Transportation; State; Agriculture; Commerce; and several others. In terms of the agencies that APGA interacts with, the Department of Energy and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission have not been impacted by the shutdown. However, the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration and Commodity Futures Trading Commission have been impacted by the shutdown and as a result have had to furlough many of their employees.

At this point it remains unclear when Congress and the Administration will be able to reach a solution to the funding impasse. For questions on this article, please contact Dave Schryver of APGA staff by phone at 202-464-2742 or by email at dschryver@apga.org.
