On December 6, APGA held a webinar for its members to provide an overview of APGA’s legislative and regulatory activities in 2018. The webinar was presented by Dave Schryver, APGA’s Executive Vice President, and Dan Lapato and Doug MacGillivray, Directors of Government Affairs. During the webinar they discussed APGA advocacy efforts on a number of issues including comprehensive tax reform legislation, energy legislation as well as a number of Department of Energy (DOE) rulemakings.

During the webinar, staff discussed the push by APGA to have the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) take action to ensure that pipeline consumers receive the benefit, in their pipeline rates, of the lowering of the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 21 percent. They also discussed congressional efforts to move energy legislation and communicated some of the priorities that APGA has focused on including increased transparency and the use of accurate data in the appliance efficiency rulemaking process. They provided an overview of APGA’s interactions with DOE on a number of issues and discussed several of the rulemakings that DOE has released. Lastly, they gave an outlook on the 116th congressional session, which begins in January and discussed some of the issues, including reauthorization of the Pipeline Safety Act, that they anticipate APGA will be working on in the next year.

APGA holds government relations webinars twice a year. A mid-year webinar was held in April prior to APGA’s Government Relations Conference. A recording of the webinar is available at www.apga.org/webinars.
