DOE Extends Gas Industry’s Petition for Separate Product Classes

By Dan Lapato posted 01-24-2019 02:42 PM

On January 23, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) issued a pre-publication notice announcing an extension of the public comment period for submitting comments on a petition submitted by APGA, AGA, NGSA, NPGA and Spire. Our petition asks DOE to recognize that their current proposed energy conservation standards for residential furnaces and commercial water heaters would result in the unavailability of “performance characteristics.” We asked DOE to withdraw its proposals for amended standards for these products based upon such findings. Our petition was published on November 1 for a 60-day comment period. DOE received two requests from interested parties seeking an extension of the comment period to develop additional data relevant to the petition. DOE has extended the comment period by 30 days to March 1, 2019.

For more information on the extension or our separate product-class petition please contact Dan Lapato of APGA staff by phone at 202-464-2742 or by email at dlapato@apga.org.
