Bob Dowell is the Director of Long Beach Gas and Oil. Bob brings 37 years of professional experience in both the gas and energy sectors. In 2016, Bob was appointed to his current position as Director of the Long Beach Gas and Oil Department (LBGO) for the City of Long Beach, California. In this role, Bob is responsible for providing the leadership over three unique enterprise operations: a full-service municipal natural gas utility providing service to approximately 500,000 residents and businesses in the cities of Long Beach and Signal Hill, management of a major oil field operation with both onshore and offshore production with annual oil production of over 12 million barrels, and oversight of a large waste-to-energy electrical power plant processing over 445,000 tons of waste annually and generating enough power each year to supply 35,000 residential homes with electricity.
Prior to his position at LBGO, Bob served nine years at Warren Resources, Inc., an independent energy company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development, and production of domestic onshore crude oil and gas reserves. In his role as Vice President of Operations and General Manager, Bob led the California and Wyoming business units comprising a publicly traded $500 million market cap oil company with $130 million in annual revenue and $73 million in CAPEX.
Prior to Warren Resources, Inc., Bob worked 18 years for the Southern California Gas Company in a variety of roles, including distribution operations, health and safety management, emergency planning, engineering and design services, gas supply, and underground gas storage engineering. His experience also included oil and gas well drilling, oil and gas production operations, and reservoir analysis while at Texaco/Getty Oil Company for 6 years.
Bob has a Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering from University of Washington.
