Participate in the 2017 Sea-to-Shining-Sea NGV Road Rally Across America

NGVAmerica has announced plans for the 2017 Sea-to-Shining-Sea NGV Road Rally Across America. Presenting Sponsors are APGA, NGVAmerica & AGA. They are seeking low-cost sponsorships from membership to help make this national media event a success. There are two different ways to support this effort:

• Venue Sponsorship ($1,500); and,
• Event Sponsorship (cost of event).

Last year’s successful Long Beach, Calif., to Washington, D.C., 10-day, 13-stop road trip accomplished several goals:
• Created a celebratory atmosphere to counteract industry doldrums caused by oil volatility;
• Provided a venue to present ~ 50 awards to state & local government officials and stakeholders who championed natural gas issues;
• Served to educate attendees on natural gas’ value proposition;
• Proved that NGV range anxiety is a myth; and,
• Garnered positive media attention.

This year—in addition to the above—a key component to this multi-stop, west coast-to-east coast road rally will be to bring industry stakeholders together to draw media attention to the VW settlement program as well as educate state and local officials on how NGVs play a significant role as a solution to projects outlined in the $2.7 billion Environmental Mitigation Trust Fund.

Please contact Tom Sheehan at 207.925.1136 or t_sheehan@roadrunner.com to either:
• Discuss this opportunity in detail; or,
• Forward him contact information of those in your organization responsible for funding this endeavor.

Please note that we are in the initial planning phase of this event. We anticipate the road rally will occur in May 2017. Once we have identified all of the organizations who are interested in becoming Event Sponsors, we will analyze national fueling infrastructure to ensure a working west coast-to-east coast plan. Due to the nature of this coordination effort, we need to put the cart before the horse to plan the route as there may be several routes occurring at the same time depending upon participation. Tom Sheehan, who is the organizer, will be managing the national effort and coordinating with each individual Event Sponsor. The ideal criteria for an Event Sponsor candidate should:
• Appoint a lead individual who will be assigned to and is responsible for assembling and managing a committee of staff and/or stakeholders to execute multiple tasks to ensure a successful event for a specific location (organizer will provide a template to assist with individual stops (literature, banners with logos of sponsors, manufacturer of awards, etc.);
• Above person needs to participate in conference calls with other Event Sponsors to coordinate and communicate progress in order to assist with the execution of the national plan and ensure success at each individual media stop;
• Provide a location that should be situated in a high-density population area, preferably near a city;
• Have the ability to draw at least 100 people for attendance to the event;
• Have the resources and ability to attract larger media outlets and not simply the local newspaper;
• Cater the event; and,
• Provide an award ceremony.
