APGA Participates in Industry PSMS Survey

By Erin Kurilla posted 09-27-2018 09:36 AM

Last week, APGA distributed an invitation to an industry-wide Pipeline Safety Management System (PSMS) survey, which went to the primary contacts for APGA member systems. While many APGA members are just learning about American Petroleum Institute (API) Recommended Practice (RP) 1173: Pipeline Safety Management Systems, APGA encourages all members to participate in the survey. The survey questions are identical to those being completed by investor owned distribution companies, gas transmission pipelines, and hazardous liquid pipelines.

The APGA responses of this survey will be anonymized and combined with the responses from the rest of the industry. It is appropriate that in the first year of this survey, it illuminates our current state of adoption. The same survey questions will be asked annually for the next several years to show the industry’s progress. This progress will demonstrate to regulators the voluntary incorporation of PSMS principles without requiring API RP 1173 by regulation. The survey can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HHZSVVD.
