From September 10-13, in Athens, Ala., nearly 200 individuals participated in the annual Alabama Natural Gas Association Fall Workshop. Erin Kurilla, APGA Vice President of Operations & Safety, oversaw a roundtable discussion on pipeline safety and regulatory compliance. The APGA Security and Integrity Foundation (SIF) team was on-site and provided training materials for seven classes on five different subject matters, including: leak investigation, regulating devices and valves operation and maintenance. The program enables participants to obtain their Operator Qualifications or re-qualifications on covered tasks through classroom testing and field evaluations.

The hand-on experience gained at this workshop is largely due to the outstanding facilities at the Athens Utilities Leak City. Additionally, vendors and service providers were on-site demonstrating their equipment and answering questions. The event also brings together the local first responders and the gas system operators for networking and training opportunities.

Watch for the next ANGA Fall Workshop in September 2019.
