After much convincing, the American Petroleum Institute (API) is now offering a free read-only web version of Recommended Practice (RP) 1173: Pipeline Safety Management Systems. APGA encourages all gas systems to familiarize themselves with the concepts within this document, as it is receiving more and more attention from federal and state regulators. Note, implementation of this RP is not a requirement or regulation, but industry is encouraged to voluntarily incorporate elements that will assist in making their system safer. While the document in its entirety may be incompatible with APGA member systems, there are certainly concepts within it that you may find beneficial.
