On September 27, APGA participated in and co-sponsored NGVAmerica’s (NGVA) 2018 Road Rally Congressional Reception. Held at the UPS Townhouse on Capitol Hill, the Congressional Reception kicked off the 2018 Coast-to Coast NGV Road Rally.

The Congressional Reception was a chance for NGVA, APGA, and its partners to highlight the successes of natural gas vehicles (NGV), celebrate recent work on Capitol Hill in support of NGVs, and applaud congressional champions working to ensure NGVs remain an integral part of our transportation matrix.

The reception honored Representatives Markwayne Mullen (R-Okla.) and John Larson (D-Conn.), who sponsored the Natural Gas Parity Act of 2018 (H.R.5959). This bill would extend the Alternative Fuel Tax Credit, the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit, support research and development for NGVs, and reauthorize funding for NGVs under the Clean Cities program, among other things. Congressman Mullen was on hand to receive his award and discuss the importance of NGVs with attendees.

Also present was Representative John Shimkus (R-Ill.), a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and chair of its Environment Subcommittee. Rep. Shimkus has long been a supporter of alternative fuel vehicles, and his presence was a welcome surprise.

The 2018 NGVA Coast-to-Coast Road Rally will take place from September 27 and conclude in Palm Springs, California on November 14. APGA members are encouraged to participate in the road rally by hosting events and stops. Please contact APGA or NGVA if your system would like to host an event.
