On June 22, APGA sent a letter to the Chairman, Senator Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Ranking Member, Senator Cantwell (D-Wash.), of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee in support of President Trump’s nomination of Daniel Simmons to serve as Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) at the Department of Energy (DOE). APGA has been actively engaged in the work of EERE given their role in developing appliance efficiency standards.

In its letter, APGA states that “Mr. Simmons’ knowledge and experience provides him with the tools to pursue the goal of providing affordable energy for all Americans. Energy is the lifeblood of America’s economy and Mr. Simmons skills and leadership will play a critical role in ensuring that consumers continue to benefit from our current supply of abundant domestic energy resources.” The letter goes on to urge that his nomination moves quickly and successfully through the Committee and the full Senate.

Mr. Simmons’ confirmation hearing was on June 26. In addition, Mr. Simmons is scheduled to speak at this year’s APGA Annual Conference on the morning of July 23. Copies of the letters that APGA sent are available on the APGA website.
