On May 7 and 8, members of the APGA Board of Directors and the Regulatory Subcommittee met with members of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in Washington, D.C. During their meetings, APGA members and staff met with Commissioners Cheryl LaFleur, Robert Powelson, and Richard Glick.
The issues that were raised in the meeting included: action taken by FERC in response to the lowering of the corporate tax rate and its impact on pipeline rates as well as FERC’s Certificate Policy which addresses the approval of pipeline projects. APGA also addressed issues related to the direct use of natural gas and the benefit it provides.
APGA leadership meets with the FERC Commissioners twice a year as a means to communicate information and positions on federal regulatory matters of concern to public gas systems. These meetings play a critical role in APGA’s advocacy efforts as they have allowed APGA to develop and maintain a relationship with the Commissioners. APGA previously met with the Commissioners in December.
