APGA held its fall Board and Committee Meetings as well as a Strategic Planning Session from October 29 to November 1 in Cape Coral, Fla. APGA holds board and committee meetings quarterly and this is a time for members to meet in-person to discuss industry trends, issues and more. Committee meetings held include Marketing & Sales, Operations & Safety, Government Relations, Associates and many more. Much of APGA’s important work gets done at these committee meetings and during the APGA Board of Directors meeting, which was held on October 30.

After the board and committee meetings ended, APGA members engaged in a strategic planning session. This is a process held every three to five years for the association to determine strategy, goals and priorities. The session was led by Bill Liss from the Gas Technology Institute and began with presentations from industry leaders. The panel of industry leaders offered their perspectives and insights from their organizations. The panel was composed of: Blue Jenkins from Natural Gas Supply Association; Norman Holmes from South Region Pipelines; Steve Lindsay from Spire; and, Coleman Smoak from Piedmont Municipal Power Agency. All of their presentations are available on the APGA website under “Resources.”

APGA will continue to review the input received from the Strategic Planning session as well as the member surveys sent out in the months preceding the session. From there, more direction will be given and a Strategic Plan will be in place to guide the association. APGA is run by its volunteer members in committees and on the Board of Directors. The input received from them is vital to keep the association thriving and successful. We appreciate the effort APGA members have taken to help plan for the future.

The next APGA Board and Committee meetings are scheduled for January 28- 31 in San Antonio, Texas. The meeting will be followed by the annual APGA Gas Supply Conference. The conference provides public natural gas systems with a forum to learn more about natural gas supply while addressing current market changes and challenges. The conference focuses on available purchase alternatives for public natural gas systems and provides an overview of what the gas supply markets have in store for next year. Information on the Gas Supply Conference is available on the APGA website at www.apga.org/sanantonio.
